Litter crisis on Goring Gap

Having walked the roads around Goring Gap, like some others I’m horrified at the amount of discarded rubbish literally littering the verges on both sides of the “concrete” roads there. Quite simply it has to be seen to be believed – glass bottles, plastic bottles, cans, fast food packaging and much much more – and is a real fire risk and hazard to wildlife.

Long term we hope that Worthing Borough Council will be more proactive in keeping the area cleaner, but in the short term it is such an urgent matter that we propose to have an impromptu clean up there this coming Sunday morning (16 Aug) from 10am. If you’re able to help, please meet at the sea end of the road leading to the Gap (just west of the “Dixon” field), and we’ll have pickers, bags and high vis jackets available. It’s appreciated that this is just across the Ferring border, but needs must, and we hope that some Goring people might be able to join us to get the Gap back in a better state than it is now.
